PREBLE SOLDIER INJURED IN OVERSEAS BLAST
(West Manchester, OH)--A Whitewater Valley soldier is recovering today from an attack he endured recently while serving overseas.  Kyle Petry is a 2000 graduate of National Trail High School.  He’s an Army Sergeant and a squad leader for a unit called Task Force Bulldog, which was helping to provide security in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province.  Petry was seriously injured after the vehicle in which he was riding struck a landmine.  Two of the three soldiers in the vehicle were killed.  Petry has been taken to the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C., where he was listed in stable condition Friday.  Meanwhile, another Randolph County school administrator is headed to the Middle East.  Monroe Central School Board Member Dennis Patty resigned this week to work as a contractor in Afghanistan for the next year.  Monroe Central’s superintendent, Shane Robbins, is already there.  He’s serving with the Indiana National Guard.

CORONER INVESTIGATES RICHMOND BABY'S DEATH
(Cincinnati, OH)--An investigation has been opened into the recent death of a seven-month-old Richmond boy.  Last week, we told you about the tragic death of Tressel Meinardi, who died at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital after his body was flushed with alcohol instead of saline solution during surgery.  Hamilton County Coroner O’dell Owens indicated Thursday that his office is investigating to find out exactly how the fatal mistake was made.  The alcohol caused the baby’s body to shut down.  His cause of death is listed as “multi-system organ failure”.  That cause, though is pending a formal investigation.  Owens said that his office did not do an autopsy because the death was classified as natural.  Tressel Meinardi was named after Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel.

CHURCH LEADER ACCUSED OF RAPING BOYS
(Lewisburg, OH)--A Preble County man who is also the member of a church board is behind bars today, accused of having all kinds of sexual contact with at least five boys.  Authorities say the evidence they have against 61-year-old Michael Windham of Lewisburg is convincing and overwhelming.  Charges against Windham include rape, voyeurism, and sexual misconduct with a minor.  Windham was taken into custody Thursday night at his home in Lewisburg.  Police Chief Bob Bowman said two victims came forward and gave investigators the names of three other victims.  "They are alleging that this activity has been taking place for five years," Bowman said.  At least two of the boys were allegedly paid for their sexual activity.  Some of the sex acts are believed to have taken place at the Plainview Open Bible Church, where Windham is a board member.  Lewisburg resident Loretta Schearer said she began suspecting Windham about a year ago.  "I saw him over their with several young boys in the swimming area," Shearer said.  Investigators say they’re concerned that there may be more victims.
